Ryan Beatson - Senior Engineering Geologist
Ryan is a very outdoors and people person who enjoys being in nature whether it be surfing, skiing, hiking or simply taking his dog for a walk on the beach. He spent a lot of his childhood goldmining and hiking in New Zealand and California with his dad which lead him to have a great understanding and passion for geology and geography.
Ryan graduated from Auckland University with a Bachelors in Earth Science (geology and geography), however his love for surfing and the beach lead him to also study climatology and hydrology. After working in another industry for a short time, Ryan started at GeoStudio in September of 2016 where he took upon the role of engineering geologist and has been progressing forward ever since
Joseph Hughes - Senior Engineering Geologist
Joseph graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Earth Science from the University of Auckland in 2021, he then began working at GeoStudio in the engineering geologist role within the same year. At Geostudio Joseph likes to take on all challenges and find solutions for unique jobs such as swimming pools in curious locations and stabilising landslips.
Growing up in Whangarei helped build an appreciation of the natural world through spending most weekends either fishing in the harbour or trekking through the bush and mountains. Working in the engineering role is a great way to combine my knowledge and passion for the natural world with a bit of technical problem solving.
In my spare time you could probably find me attempting a new ambitious outdoor hobby for a couple weeks before moving onto the next one, or enjoying some overly competitive online game.
